چکیده
INTRODUCTION: Research on sleep disturbances and sensory processing disorder (SPD) among children with autism spectrum (ASD) has received little attention. Identification of components that cause ASD will guide the therapists to select best intervention for condition. This study aims identify pattern is responsible disturbance children. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional was conducted 55 between three 18 years old who participated in study. SPD analyzed using Short Sensory Profile (SSP) while utilized Sleep Disturbance Scale Children (SDSC). RESULTS: The subscale showed a strong correlation score overall disturbances. subscales are movements sensitivity positive association auditory filtering negative (p<0.05). However, no significant total (p>0.05) were noted. CONCLUSION: finding may therefore shed light need be addressed reciprocally. A high incidence of sensory processing difficulties exists in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and children with Sensory Modulation Disorder (SMD). This is the first study to directly compare and contrast these clinical disorders. Sympathetic nervous system markers of arousal and reactivity were utilized in a laboratory paradigm that administered a series of sensory challenges acros...
متن کاملSensory Processing, Physiological Stress, and Sleep Behaviors in Children With and Without Autism Spectrum Disorders
Sleep problems have been frequently identified in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). It has been proposed that some sleep problems are due to sensory sensitivity. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between physiologic responses to sensation and sleep in children with and without ASD. Fifty-five children participated in the study (ASD, n = 27; typical, n = 28)....
